The Dolphin Connection is dedicated to providing rewarding, educational, and memorable field trips for all visiting students. Grade specific instruction is offered.
Ocean Care (Pre K – 1st Grade)
Program objectives are for students to understand that dolphins live in the ocean, to observe that numerous species of plants and animals depend on the ocean, and to learn how to care for ocean environments. Participants will be observing, but will not be meeting, the dolphins. Group size limit 36.
Junior Scientists (2nd – 3rd Grade)Program objectives are for students to understand the scientific process, observe specific elements of the dolphin’s environment, and gain a basic understanding of the workings of a food web. Participants will be observing a dolphin training session. Group size limit 36. Connections (4th – 6th Grade)Program objectives are for students to discover relationships between school subjects and marine careers, and to become familiar with marine science career opportunities. Participants will participate in data collection and briefly meet the dolphins from our dry docks, but will not be entering the water. Group size limit 36.
Animal Care (6-12 years)Program objectives are for students to rotate through various activity stations that will provide a glimpse into how our staff trains the dolphins, how our veterinarian keeps our dolphins healthy, and how to protect the animals native to the Florida Keys ocean environment. Participants will meet the dolphins from our dry docks but will not be entering the water. Group size limit 40.
Ocean Conservation (8-12 years)
Program objectives are for students to discover a dolphin’s place in the marine food web, how to use the Florida Keys environment responsibly and ways to positively impact the Florida Keys marine environment. Participants will be meeting our dolphins from the dry docks but will not be entering the water. Group size limit 40.
